Middleborough’s “Meet at the Fifty” Celebrates the Beginning and End of the Sachem Journey

Middleborough Public Schools celebrated a special school community tradition during Friday night’s football game as the Class of 2039 kindergarteners and the Class of 2027 seniors came together for the annual “Meet at the Fifty” event at Middleborough High School.

The heartwarming tradition brought together the district’s youngest learners and its graduating seniors at the 50-yard line, symbolizing the beginning and culmination of the Sachem school journey. As the kindergarteners begin their educational adventure, the seniors prepare for graduation and the exciting opportunities that lie ahead.

Senior Ian Pina-Doherty welcomed the kindergarteners and shared a message of encouragement, reminding them that the memories and friendships they make throughout their school years will shape their journey. Kindergarten teacher Carly Paling celebrated the seniors’ growth and accomplishments, recognizing the resilience and determination they have demonstrated along the way.

The seniors also presented the kindergarteners with a special token of Sachem pride, welcoming them into the Middleborough school community.

The event captured the spirit of the evening through its theme: “Your First, Our Last.” The kindergarteners proudly responded, “Our First, Your Last,” before joining together to cheer, “Go, Sachems!”

From the first day of kindergarten to the final year of high school, Meet at the Fifty serves as a meaningful reminder that Middleborough Public Schools is one community, connected by shared experiences, lasting memories, and Sachem pride.

One community. One journey. Go, Sachems!
