Middleborough High School is proud to announce Alexandria Petit as the Sachems Head Girls Basketball Coach.

MIDDLEBOROUGH, MA – Middleborough High School is excited to announce the appointment of Alexandria Petit as the new Head Coach of the MHS Girls Basketball program. A former NCAA Division II athlete and collegiate assistant coach, Petit brings a strong background in player development, leadership, and program building to the Sachems.

Petit joins Middleborough after serving as an Assistant Women’s Basketball Coach at Ursuline College, where she helped develop game strategies, scouting reports, and mentorship programs for student-athletes. As a four-year Division II player and captain at Ursuline, she was known for her leadership on and off the court—helping guide the team to its best season start in over a decade.

“Alexandria’s experience as both a player and a coach at the collegiate level stood out immediately,” said Ryan Sylvia, Athletic Director at Middleborough High School. “She brings an energy and passion for the game that will inspire our student-athletes. We’re thrilled to have her lead the program into a new era.”

Petit earned her Bachelor’s degree in English and a Master’s in Education from Ursuline College, graduating with high honors. Her coaching philosophy emphasizes respect, accountability, teamwork, and personal growth—values that align closely with Middleborough’s athletic mission.

“I am thrilled to be taking the helm of the Middleborough Girls Basketball Program. It is an incredible opportunity to help empower these young girls on and off the court. I am excited to compete with the best in the South Shore league and the best in the MIAA. said Petit. “My goal is to build a culture that values hard work, accountability, and love for the game. I can’t wait to get started.”

Middleborough High School Principal Paul Branagan also expressed his enthusiasm about the hire. “Coach Petit brings not only impressive experience but also a commitment to mentorship and education,” Branagan said. “Her vision for the program fits perfectly with what we strive for at MHS—developing strong students, athletes, and leaders.”

The Sachems will begin preseason training under Coach Petit later this fall.
